What you said about Bunnings' Statement of Principles
The draft Statement of Principles endorsed by Bunnings and GIA on 27 March was issued to the greenlife industry for consultation, which closed on 11 April:
- 75 people completed the survey
- 86 people attended one of two webinars with Adam Cole (Bunnings) and Joanna Cave (GIA)
- 11 people requested an interview with Communications Link to offer detailed feedback
All of this material, including the questions that were asked by growers attending the webinars, can be accessed via this website: How Bunnings Works with our Greenlife Suppliers
Generally, it would seem that industry feels that the Statement ‘is a positive start’ but is withholding judgement on its impact on their trading relationship with Bunnings until it is up and running which seems perfectly reasonable. It was pleasing to see that 8/10 of the principles that industry judged as most valuable inclusions are those items GIA fought for. We are also pleased to hear that industry sees a role of GIA in helping growers understand their rights under the Statement.
GIA and Bunnings have now incorporated your feedback into the Statement. Next, we'll be working out the program of meetings to negotiate the Terms of Reference for the independent arbitration process industry has asked for.
Thank you for your ongoing participation and support as we work together to create more commercial certainty for growers in their trading relationship with Bunnings.
