Membership Renewals | Updated member benefits
It's that time of year again and GIA wanted to thank each and every one of our members for supporting your national body.
Together we represent a nationally significant industry voice and as a group we make a positive difference.
We are working very hard on your behalf to enhance the industry in which we live and work. During the year ahead we intend to continue demonstrating the value of GIA membership through tangible and intangible benefits and hope you have been taking advantage of the many benefits we've been building.
I know the vast majority of you have been actively involved whether its a foundation member spotlight article in eNews, promotion through various channels we are developing, lending your expertise and support to one of the many programs we have been running or to sit as an advisory expert on committees to push for change that will benefit the industry moving forward.
This year (with your help) we have kicked some massive goals including the advocacy and lobbying of Federal Government to keep greenlife businesses on the 'essential services' list during the Covid pandemic.
I think you will all agree this pandemic has benefited the greenlife industry which is something we need to actively maintain.
What have GIA achieved this year?
Advocacy
GIA lobbied the Federal Government to keep greenlife businesses on the ‘essential services’ list during the COVID-19 pandemic.
This meant our industry businesses stayed open and able to trade nationally throughout COVID restrictions when other businesses and industries were forced to close.
Sustainability
Greenlife Industry Australia has partnered with Australian Packaging Covenant Organisation (APCO) to establish the PoPPr Program, receiving $546,000 to establish a national recovery program for Polypropylene Plant Packaging, including plant pots, trays, tags and stakes.
This will enable Australians to return their plant packaging for recycling into new plant packaging and close the loop on horticultural Polypropylene.
Promotion
New Greenlife Industry Australia website and database was developed including an Industry Trade Register.
Giving GIA greater ability to communicate with our members and promotes the benefits of Greenlife to consumers
Plants Pals was established as the national retail nursery marketing campaign, keeping greenlife at the forefront of consumers’ minds and encouraging the purchase of greenlife through the pandemic period, supporting independent garden centres.
This means more consumers were out in their gardens and buying products from our industry businesses
Insurance
Working with industry and other interested parties to develop an industry insurance program for those hard to insure items such as greenhouses / glasshouses, stock on ground, catastrophic events such as hail, fire and flood to be encapsulated in one affordable policy.
This means being able to insure all of your business
