Drought Resilience Leaders Mentoring Program brings community, industry together to tackle challenges of drought and climate
Applications are now open for the Future Drought Fund’s Drought Resilience Leaders Mentoring Program. The Mentoring Program will allow farmers and regional communities to gain knowledge and skills by sharing expertise and experiences in agriculture.
The program will support the next generation of farmers to tackle future challenges in drought and climate change. Mentors and mentees will participate in six one-on-one sessions and access targeted webinars and training. These webinars will cover topics relevant to agriculture and regional Australia, including business management, succession planning, mental health, and future climate change.
To participate, mentees must identify as a farmer. Mentees will be matched with a mentor whose background, knowledge and experience aligns with their personal or business-related goals. As a mentor, the program seeks applications from farmers and other rural professionals with a willingness to listen, guide and share experiences with their mentee.
This is a truly national initiative. Applications are open Australia-wide and to all agriculture. The mentoring program will build networks between communities and create a platform to share and engage with one another, creating meaningful solutions for the future of regional, rural and remote communities.
By joining a wide network of farmers, industry, and agriculture professionals, the program will equip communities to strengthen their resilience to challenges on and off-farm. Something especially important during times of drought. Participants will have opportunities to learn from one another and those with experience and expertise in climate science, resilience, wellbeing, and agricultural practice.
The Drought Resilience Leaders Mentoring Program will commence with inductions in October, and November 2021 and mentoring sessions will run between January and June 2022.
Applications to participate in the Drought Resilience Leaders Mentoring Program close on 31 August 2021.
