Farewell to Josh Byrne
By Gabrielle Stannus
Josh Byrne has announced his resignation from the Greenlife Industry Australia (GIA) Board of Directors to focus on his new role as Dean, Sustainable Futures at Curtin University. Josh will lead the development of sustainable futures, one of four capability platforms to support learning, research and partnership activities for the university’s Faculty of Humanities.
“Making the decision to step off the Board has not been an easy one, however I take great comfort in the knowledge that GIA has a dedicated Chair, a skilled Board, and a highly talented CEO to oversee the continued development of the organisation on behalf of members and wider industry,” says Josh.
During his time on the Board, Josh chaired GIA’s Marketing and Communications Committee and contributed his environmental credentials to the organisation’s new sustainability portfolio.
The environmental scientist, landscape designer, author, and ABC TV’s Gardening Australia presenter intends to remain close with the greenlife industry, both personally and professionally, as he has done over many years now.
“I look forward to exploring opportunities for collaboration with GIA in the near future,” says Josh.
“Josh has a great strategic brain, and we will miss his ‘blue sky’ thinking’, says Jo Cave, GIA CEO, “He was always very ambitious for GIA, particularly in his work to progress the urban greening agenda.”
GIA would like to thank Josh for his service to our association and wish him well in his new role at Curtin University.
GIA’s Board of Directors will fill this casual vacancy in due course.
